Stop me being ill....!!

18th February 2007

I've spent the last two days being incredibly ill.....it's not fun anymore, I'm quite bored of it!! (And besides that, despite thowing up for the past 2 days, I haven't lost ANY weight!!! where's the justice!!?!?)

So - I had blood tests done this week to see how my liver was coping with the stress of dealing with the gallstones - and then I had 3 letters from Mr Hewin, my surgeon.
The first was to clarify what happened the week before, when I was forced to stay at Crowne Plaza GRH. Then to explain that the best way to stop it was to remove my gall bladder.
The next two letters were appointments, first for the pre op consultation and then the operation - both of which happen in the next two weeks!!!

So, by close of play on the 28th Feb, I should be free of gall bladder....! I won't be able to walk easily for a few days, and I won't be able to drive for a few weeks, but when all that is over, I should be pain free (from the gallstones, at least!!)

It's all happening so quickly now - but it means that I need to organise myself to get everything done while I can still drive...!!! All good fun....!

The wedding fair is pretty much organised, which is cool - just need to look forward to it now!!

Meanwhile, I will be having a couple of weeks off work to recuperate - but I am sure that I will be doing work at home, just so that I don't go bonkers!! (any more than I already am!)

Thank you all for contributing to my fundraising - you've all helped push me that bit closer to my target......

Morphine is good!!

Wednesday 7th February 2007
Ok - So I've been a little bit quiet - so sue me!

Thursday night I had the worst ever attack of gallstone pain - I was literally screaming in pain, and crying my eyes out. The trip to the out of hours doctor was a quick one - Dad faced having points on his licence just so that he didn't have to sit next to me screaming my head off.....
The doctor administered an anti inflammatory drug straight into my leg, which I was told would take half and hour to work - 20 minutes later, and I was still crying out in pain, and the doctor decided on a different course of action.
I was quickly admitted to a ward, and put on a drip which administered paracetamol intravenously - all good, but it wasn't helping with the pain. Next they gave me some paracetamol and tramadol tablets - they didn't work either......so the next step was morphine directly into my bum! within minutes, the pain was subsiding.....BLISS!!!! Although there are side effects of having morphine, the benefits it provided outweighed anything bad that was happening.

So, five days in hospital - a few blood tests, a bit more morphine, and they let me out.....
I now have to wait again to get a date for my operation to remove my gall bladder, but hopefully my recent stay at the Crowne Plaza GRH will bump me up the queue a little bit.....

Anyway - Wedding fair now has 15 exhibitors, and is still growing...!! Whoo hoooooo!
