Christmas Time

26th December 2006

Merry Christmas Everyone! I hope you all had a good one...
Christmas Eve here was beseiged by a small gallstone attack - I know the symptoms now, and I can take painkillers and anti inflamatory drugs as soon as I feel the onset, and it pretty much usually gets me out of trouble.

Christmas Day was a whirr of preparation - 9 of us for a 3 course Christmas dinner!
Whoever thinks it's amusing to buy Tyson D Dog lots of squeaky toys for Christmas is VERY mean!! (However, as with anything else, it takes him about 10 minutes to break the squeak!)

We only had a short walk yesterday - Tyson wasn't in the mood, and frankly, it was cold!
Christmas eve was a longer walk - we did a couple of miles.
It's almost the new year, which will mean that I have nine months to get fit enough for China.
My plan is to throw myself headfirst into my training in the new year, and hopefully get myself fitter - then, by the time they get around to operating on me, I should recover that much quicker! (fingers crossed and all!)

Anyway - there are 7 of us for dinner today, so I should get on!
Just wanted to update the fundraising target - Mum has been busy selling quiz books and some Christmas flower arrangements, and handed me over a hundred pounds on Christmas Eve, so my total has now gone through ONE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED POUNDS - so close to half way!!

Thanks Everyone, you've all been amazing!!

Christmas-time, mistletoe and wine

12th December 2006

Where has this year gone to!? So much has happened this year, and it's almost time for a new one to start. This is where I start to get all philosophical.

This year has been survived, mainly due to my amazing friends, without you, I wouldn't have stood a chance.
So, today is my turn to say Thank you for your help.....
In no particular order,
Rachel McKie, Amanda Ghent, Ian Taylor, Dr Benit M, Martin Nash, Emily Johnson, Debbie Doolin, Julie Mellons, Tom Jones, Hilary and Kev Davis, Lynne Garner.

Take a bow, all of you! And thank you.

I hope the next year will be successful for everyone who reads this page - and that some amazing things can start to happen.
I had my newsletter from Cancer Research UK yesterday, to say that in the last year, they have spent £257 MILLION on research - this is all money donated by the public, so we need to keep this going.

Shaky's fundraising for the Special Care Baby Unit is also well under way, and if he continues in this manner, he will smash his target. This is a really good cause, so please, if you have any spare cash, please donate it to his fundraising, or mine!!

NHS - why are we paying for it!?!?

1st December 2006

Fundraising news is a bit scarce at the minute, while I tie myself up with work and Christmas plans....but there is possible a big event in the offfing - a joint venture with my good bud, Shaky....so, watch this space!!

I now have a date for seeing the consultant at the hospital - 22nd February!! it's ok guys, I'm
faking the pain..!!! Lord knows how long after the consultation I'll be operated on.....so, at
the moment, I'm in a mood with the NHS.
Mum decided that she would look into me having the op done privately - as my Birthday present!! But at a cost of over £5000, this wasn't a viable option.....
So, I shall wait until February.....

In the meantime, my brother is in Court on Monday to hopefully win his case against some disgruntled customers of his (I'll refrain from using the language that they deserve!). Watch this space for a celebration in the Davis household (hopefully....otherwise it will be a miserable Christmas!!)

Anyway - I'm still looking for ideas for things to do before I get to 30...so thinking caps on, please!!
