Grrrr....damned Pain

24th November 2006

This week has mostly been a write off - due to the pain in the guts that is my gallstones.
The "attack" started last Friday evening- Dad had gone to bed early, and Mum and I were watching Pudsey.....the gripping, vice like pain that indicates the onset of a gallstone attack is unmistakeable.
The pain was so severe, not only was I crying, sweating, gripping my abdomen..but at the same
time, I was freezing cold and Tyson expected me to play ball...!! I tried to be quiet in my cries - so as not to wake Dad.
Saturday came, and the pain had started to subside, but it was still there - it made sure I knew it. I tried going to watch the rugby (Gloucester - v - Wasps) but at half time, I conceeded defeat (as did Wasps, apparently!!) and got a taxi home to my hot water bottle.
Sunday came and I was still in no end of pain, I called the out of hours Doctor, and was summoned immediately to the hospital, where I was prodded (not a good thing to do when I'm in agony and extremely short tempered) and given a blood test.
I was then sent home with new pain killers.

The week has progressed, and the pain has lessened - I'm pleased to say. Back to work today.

It's hard to believe that 2 weeks ago, it was Ladies Night.....My, how time flies!!

Shaky Does Jersey

I'm not sure how to follow the Ladies Night entry....but this is as good a way as any, I guess!!

My good friend, Shaky is planning on cycling around Jersey next summer in order to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at Gloucester Royal Hospital.
Bless his bum (it will probably need something after being in the saddle for so long!!)

So, if anyone would like to donate some cash to this VERY worthy cause - please have a visit to his page at http://www.iansjerseytrip.co.uk (It's worth it just for the intro page!!)
You will also get to see a photo of Shaky in Lycra - what more could you want???

I know I'm always asking for money - but these are really good causes....and it is almost Christmas, so you should be feeling generous by now...!!
If everyone who reads this blog donated a quid to shaky as soon as they've finished reading, he should have an extra three quid by the end of today...!!

Ladies Night

Need I say anymore!?!? With a photo like that - I think you can tell the night was a roaring success!!
(and no, you can't see where my hand is......clever, eh!?)

The ladies night was a fun night - there were a few problems, but you would expect that! All of the ladies had a fabulous night, and ate, drank and got (very) merry!!

The evening raised TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY FIVE POUNDS - of which, 175 was collected by the above guys for raffle tickets!!

This little bit of fundraising has now taken me over my first one thousand pounds - so I am a third of my way to my target, and I still have 13 and a half months left to go!!

Ladies night was supported by some very generous people - not only the ladies that came along to party, but also my exhibitors, and my entertainers, so it is only fair that they get a little bit of a plug here.....

Sharon Marson - Virgin Vie and Holistic therapies (and all round lovely lady!)
Lesley & Claire - Gloucestershires' answer to Trinny & Susannah! From www.shopforyou.co.uk
Godfrey Bragg - very clever photographer type man - www.cotswoldphotography.co.uk
Tom & Joan Lockyer - and their range of fantastic costume jewellery
Mel Curtis & Emma Leighton - Prescriptive Crystal Jewellery and Angel Card Readings
Jodie - From Party- Lites candles
Hilary & Kev -Hilary being one of the BEST live singers I've ever heard (available for weddings, ladies nights....!)
and last, but certainly not least!! Carl and Tim from Cheltenham Buttler Company - www.cheltenhambuttler.co.uk - what fabulous guys - great sense of humour, and FANTASTIC BUNS!!!!

Thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a success - roll on the next one!!!

What generous people......

Friday 10th November 2006

Did you know, it's LADIES NIGHT......?? (Oh what a night!)
Tonight, the plan comes into action and my ladies get to have a damned good
night (Hopefully!)

I've been pampered, I will be the hostess with the mostest tonight!!

My fundraising is now over EIGHT HUNDRED POUNDS - and I am hoping that it will go through the One thousand pound mark tonight.....

This week I have been overwhelmed by generosity - firstly, the Boleg bros were kind enough
to offer to print my quiz books, after I had been let down by the original printer - this is such
a kind offer - I was a bit overcome!! They have completely reformatted them - and made them
look cool.....and on top of this, they have donated the first 100 copies of the quiz to me so that extra cash can go to my fundraising......THANK YOU BOLEGS!!!

ON top of this (I know, generosity abounds!!), FB Boleg has donated cash on top of the generous offer to donate my quiz books, AND sponsor my training shirts....

Some days, when you feel like everything is crap - just remember that there are still good people in the world, willing to do stuff for nothing. Good Karma boys - it's on it's way!!

On top of that, Mo Mulley has also donated twenty pounds to my cause - thank you Mo.

The quiz books are selling well - and I'm hoping to sell some more tonight!!

I will be back to let you know how much I raise tonight.......

6th November 2006

Blimey - apologies for the delay! This last week or so has been scarily busy!
I've sat two law exams today (shant bore you with the details - quite frankly, they bore me!)

So - onto the important stuff. I haven't let the fact that some sad little man let me down with the printing of my quiz books - I've started selling them electronically!! What a fabby idea!!
My friend, Richard (of www.bolegbros.co.uk fame) has VERY kindly offered to step in and print some for me at "reasonable cost". He has also offered to print some training t-shirts for me - so watch this space. (shaky thinks I'm asking for trouble having "Please give generously" across my boobs!)

The fundraising is now rapidly approaching EIGHT HUNDRED POUNDS! and with Ladies Night this weekend, I am expecting it to increase a bit more.

The doctors have made a decision about my illness - I have got gall stones. This means that I have to have my gall bladder removed. Apparently it's no longer a major operation, although it will be done under general anaesthetic (thank you!) I shouldn't need to stay in, unless there is a complication with the op, or the anaesthetic.
So, at least now we know!!

So, it's back to work tomorrow, after a couple of days off on study leave - looking forward to seeing how much work is waiting...!

In the meantime, there have been some big donations to my fundraising, Mr & Mrs Notters - generous donation, even though we lost the rugby! Shaky (again!) Shawnsheep and Hattie - Thank you all for making my fundraising jump that much higher!
